"Dune: Awakening Open Beta Reveals PvP Exploit"
Dune: Awakening recently concluded its open beta weekend, and during this period, fans uncovered a significant exploit that allows players to keep their enemies stunned indefinitely. This article delves into the details of this PvP-breaking bug and outlines Funcom's plans to address it before the game's official launch.
Players Discover Game-Breaking Stunlock Exploit
The open beta weekend for Dune: Awakening offered fans a taste of the game's first 20-25 hours, along with other exciting features. During Funcom's Global LAN Party livestream on May 10, players stumbled upon an exploit that enables them to stun their opponents indefinitely in PvP combat.
The "stunlock exploit" occurs when a player continuously uses quick knife attacks on an opponent whose stamina is completely depleted. This leaves the target unable to defend themselves, use abilities, or escape, effectively trapping them in a continuous stagger state.
This issue gained widespread attention after being highlighted during popular streamers Tyler1 and Shroud’s livestreams of the game, amplifying the community's concern.
Funcom Promises Fix Before Launch
During the same Global LAN Party livestream, Funcom developers witnessed the stunlock exploit firsthand and swiftly addressed the issue. Dune: Awakening World Director Jeff Gagné and Lead Producer Ole Andreas Haley assured fans that this bug would be resolved before the game's official release.
Gagné confidently stated, "We got this covered. It's not like 'Oh my god, we haven't thought about it.' It's already going away." With the open beta weekend now behind them, the developers have received valuable feedback and praise, which they will use to optimize the game for its upcoming launch.
Dune: Awakening is scheduled for release on PC on June 10, 2025, with subsequent releases planned for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at a later, yet-to-be-announced date. To keep up with the latest news and updates on the game, be sure to check out our related articles below!
