In their latest developer journal, BioWare has provided a comprehensive look at what PC gamers can expect from Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The studio has emphasized a variety of features tailored for the PC platform, including extensive customization options, advanced display settings, and seamless integration with Steam's native features such as cloud saves, Remote Play support, and compatibility with the Steam Deck.
The announcement was accompanied by Nvidia's "RTX Announce Trailer," which confirmed the game's release date of October 31. BioWare's commitment to delivering an optimal PC experience is evident, as the Dragon Age series originally launched on this platform. "The Dragon Age franchise started out on PC, and we wanted to make sure PC is a great place to play our game," the studio stated. To ensure this, BioWare dedicated approximately 200,000 hours to performance and compatibility testing on PCs, which comprised 40% of their total platform testing efforts.
Moreover, BioWare invested nearly 10,000 hours in user research to refine controls and UI functions across various setups. Players can look forward to native support for PS5 DualSense controllers with haptic feedback, as well as support for Xbox controllers and keyboard and mouse setups. The game also allows players to switch between controllers and keyboard/mouse setups mid-game or in menus. Additionally, The Veilguard introduces customizable class-specific keybinds for a more personalized gaming experience. The game supports 21:9 Ultrawide displays, a Cinematic Aspect Ratio toggle, customizable field of view (FOV), uncapped frame rates, full HDR support, and Ray Tracing features.
