The narrative of A Kindling Forest revolves around an ancient demon causing chaos across the world. In response, the forest spirits awaken an archer from the past, equipping him with a bow and tasking him with the mission to defeat the demon. However, the journey through A Kindling Forest is anything but straightforward.

In this game, you're always on the move as the screen continuously scrolls, presenting you with numerous shards—sharp, dangerous obstacles that appear in various shapes and patterns. Your options are clear: dodge them or shoot them down with your arrows. These arrows, provided by the forest spirits, are crucial to your survival. Running out of arrows means game over, so every shot must be precise and well-timed.

A Kindling Forest comprises five levels, each escalating in chaos. You'll navigate through challenges such as jumping over spiders, teleporting to mysterious ruins, flying over clouds, and evading lava. Checkpoints throughout the game serve as vital lifelines, allowing you to restart and experiment with different strategies if you fail.

The game's interface splits your phone's screen into two sections: one for jumping and the other for shooting. Timing is critical, and a slow-motion feature when aiming your shots adds a strategic element, giving you just enough time to align your arrows perfectly.
