Divinity: Original Sin 2 - How To Get The Ship Moving

by Christian Feb 13,2025

This guide details how to get the Elven ship, Lady Vengeance, sailing in Divinity: Original Sin 2 after escaping Fort Joy. The process involves several steps, acting as a puzzle to solve.

Quick Links

The Lady Vengeance's control mechanism is unconventional; you can't simply use the helm. You must explore the ship, interact with NPCs, and gather clues to activate it. The key is accessing Magister Dallis' cabin and using the Ancient Empire Songbook.

Investigate Dead Bodies

Begin by searching the bodies of the deceased magisters and ghouls on deck. A Sodden Diary on one corpse contains the password to a stateroom door. You can also obtain the password via a skill check with the northern stateroom door. Additionally, locate a Strange Gem; it's needed to interact with the Portside Stateroom door. A magic mirror nearby allows for respeccing characters.

Find the Portside Stateroom

Using the password from the diary (or skill check), access the ship's quarters. Interact with the unconscious Bishop Alexander to find a Strange Gem within his regalia. Use the gem and the password to unlock the southern stateroom door. This leads to Magister Dallis' cabin. The cabin also contains a hidden hatch with two ghouls and a Teleportation Prism.

Find the Songbook

Inside Dallis' cabin, speak with Tarquin and Dallis. Locate the Ancient Empire Songbook on a pedestal. Reading it reveals the song needed to move the ship. It's advisable to speak to all NPCs before proceeding, as interaction opportunities are lost once the ship sails.

Setting Sail

Return to the deck and inform Malady about the songbook. She'll ask you to sing the song. Find the dragon figurine on the west side of the deck and interact with it, selecting the option to sing. Lady Vengeance will begin moving. Be prepared for an ambush by powerful magisters immediately afterward. Ensure your party is adequately prepared for a challenging battle.
