Ready to tackle the fiery Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds* but worried about getting scorched and losing your precious meat? Don't worry, fellow hunter, we've got your back. We'll dive deep into its weaknesses, effective strategies, key attacks to dodge, and guide you on not just defeating, but capturing this formidable foe.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like creature reminiscent of the Cockatrice, is a mid-sized monster that primarily wields fire. Thankfully, it doesn't turn you to stone but can set you ablaze, making water your best friend in this fight. It has no notable resistances, but it's immune to Sonic Bombs, so leave those at home.

Given its size, most weapons can be effective, but if you're less confident in close combat, consider bringing a ranged weapon. The Quematrice's attacks often affect a wide area around it, so keeping your distance can be beneficial.

Be cautious of its tail attacks, especially the tail slam, which is its most potent move when you're positioned behind it. The Quematrice will lift its tail high before slamming it down—sidestepping or blocking will save you from damage.

However, the real danger lies in its fire-based attacks. These can not only deal immediate damage but also set you on fire, continuously draining your health, and ignite the ground. These attacks have subtle cues: the Quematrice might rear its head slightly and roar before unleashing a flame from its tail. It can also execute a full sweep, igniting everything around it after a similar roar and lift. During a charge, it might turn at the last second to spew fire at you. If you're at a distance, start moving backward as soon as you see these cues to avoid the flames.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

To successfully capture the Quematrice, you'll need the right gear: a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, plus at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is sufficient, having a backup is crucial, especially in *Monster Hunter* games, as the monster might escape or another creature could trigger it.

Once the Quematrice is weakened to the point of limping, or you notice the skull icon on the mini-map indicating it's ready to be captured, set up your trap. For simplicity, wait until the monster moves to a new area after limping away. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
