Phillips' win was a significant achievement, surpassing prominent nominees including Wilbert Roget II (Star Wars Outlaws), John Paesano (Marvel's Spider-Man 2), Bear McCreary (God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla), and Pinar Toprak (Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora). She described the experience as overwhelming, emphasizing the exceptional quality of the other nominees.

Phillips highlighted the unique nature of video game music composition, emphasizing its collaborative aspect with players and the dynamic nature of creating music for an interactive experience. She noted the music's role in accompanying player choices, adventures, and the unfolding narrative.

This Grammy win follows previous victories by Stephanie Economou (Assassin's Creed Valhalla) and Stephen Barton & Gordy Haab (Star Wars Jedi: Survivor). The award also marks a significant milestone in video game music history, building upon Christopher Tin's 2011 win for "Baba Yetu" (Civilization 4).
