Capcom's Recent Spotlight Unveils Exciting Game Updates
Capcom recently held a Spotlight and Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, revealing significant updates for several titles. Key announcements include new details for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, a release date for Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and extensive information on Monster Hunter Wilds.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword – A 2026 Release
The upcoming Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release, focuses on compelling characters, a new protagonist, and engaging enemies. The game will recreate the Edo period setting of Kyoto, featuring historically accurate locations. The developers aim for "ultimate sword fighting action" with satisfying combat. The protagonist, due to a twist of fate, wields an Oni Gauntlet, feeding it souls to defeat Genma. The difficulty will be challenging but accessible to action fans of all skill levels.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster – Coming in 2025
A remastered version of the 2002 classic, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, is scheduled for release in 2025, bridging the gap until Onimusha: Way of the Sword's launch.
Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta 2 Details
The second Open Beta for Monster Hunter Wilds introduces the flagship monster, Arkveld, in a challenging quest. Other additions include a Gypceros Hunt, a training area, Private Lobbies, and Online Single Player mode. Data from the first Beta can be transferred. Returning features include the Character Creator, Story Trial, and the Doshaguma hunt. Cross-play will be enabled.
Beta Dates:
- February 6th, 7 PM PT – February 9th, 6:59 PM PT
- February 13th, 7 PM PT – February 16th, 6:59 PM PT
Participants receive a special Pendant. Character data transfers to the full game (February 28th release), but progress does not carry over.
Monster Hunter Wilds – Iceshard Cliffs and New Monsters
The new story trailer showcased the Iceshard Cliffs, introducing new monsters: Rove (Wudwud), Hirabami (Leviathan), Nerscylla (Temnoceran), and Gore Magala.
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Release Date
Capcom Fighting Collection 2 launches May 16th, 2025, featuring Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
Street Fighter 6 – Mai Shiranui Arrives
Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury joins Street Fighter 6 on February 5th, preceding Elena as the penultimate Year 2 character.
