Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer

by Caleb May 07,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, *Rune Slayer* has finally arrived, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned veteran, diving into *Rune Slayer* can be a thrilling yet daunting experience. Fear not, as we've crafted a comprehensive guide to help you navigate your journey in this captivating world.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some essential tips we wish we had known from the start to make your adventure smoother and more enjoyable.

Do not randomly attack other players

When we first heard about *Rune Slayer*'s full-loot PvP system, we braced ourselves for chaos. However, the reality is more forgiving. **When you die in *Rune Slayer*, you don't lose anything**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue your journey.

However, **attacking other players comes with a bounty system**. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty grows, and the more items you'll drop upon death. Essentially, you can turn the game into a full-loot PvP experience by engaging in player kills, but be prepared for the consequences.

Our advice? **Avoid attacking other players** unless you have a strategic reason or a group to support you. It's not worth the risk unless you're prepared for the potential losses.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly realize that both your **bank space and inventory are limited**. With a cap at 50 items, your inventory can fill up fast. To manage this, **craft bags** as soon as possible. You can equip up to two bags, starting with the **Cotton Bag**.

To craft a Cotton Bag, gather **Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south**. Be cautious in the south due to dangerous mobs. Each Cotton Bag adds an extra 10 slots to your inventory, so prioritize crafting these early on.

Your pets don’t actually die

A common misunderstanding is that your tamed pets die when their health reaches zero. In reality, **when your pet's health drops to zero, it can't be summoned for 5 minutes**. You can check this cooldown by holding **T**.

Once the cooldown is over, hold **T** again to summon your pet back. A handy tip: to **quickly heal your pet**, store and unstore it at the stable master using your one free slot.

Grab all the Quests (Yes, all of them)

*Rune Slayer* is packed with quests, many of which are not repeatable and can blend into the background. To manage this, **accept every quest you encounter**, including those from the Job board. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is more efficient than tackling them one by one.

You'll often find that you can complete several quests at once, making your progress through the game smoother and more rewarding.

Craft everything at least once (even things you don’t need)

While you should prioritize crafting what you need, don't hesitate to use **spare materials** to craft items you might not immediately require. **Crafting items for the first time often unlocks new, more powerful crafts**. For instance, smelting your first Iron Ore can unlock a range of new Iron Armor crafts.

So, be adventurous with your crafting and explore all possibilities to enhance your gear and abilities.

Join a Guild

*Rune Slayer* is designed to be solo-friendly, but as you delve deeper, you'll encounter **tougher enemies** that are best tackled in groups. Joining a **guild** is the easiest way to find like-minded players to take on these challenges.

Use the in-game general chat or the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server to find a guild that suits your playstyle. Having a group of allies can make all the difference in overcoming the game's toughest foes.

And that's all you need to get started in *Rune Slayer*. Enjoy your journey, and if you're yet to begin, don't forget to check out the *Rune Slayer* Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.
