New Batman Game in Development at Rocksteady

by Ava Feb 20,2025

Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new single-player Batman game.

Specific details remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if this will be a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate storyline. However, a source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond title, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City. The ambitious plan? A full trilogy. The game's release is anticipated on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was lauded for its stunning graphics, and a futuristic Gotham setting could be Rocksteady's most visually impressive achievement yet. The Batman Beyond concept also addresses a significant challenge: the voice of Batman. Following the passing of the iconic Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne – a similar approach considered by Warner Bros. Montreal for their canceled Batman: Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content within a year. A rushed animated conclusion reversed controversial plot points, revealing key characters to be clones.

Rocksteady is now returning to its core strength: developing compelling solo Batman adventures. However, sources suggest this new project is still several years from release.
