by Isabella Jul 28,2025

Tim Burton's iconic Batman universe expands once more with Batman: Resurrection, a new novel by John Jackson Miller, published by Penguin Random House. This thrilling addition introduces the Burton-verse's interpretation of The Riddler, and is available for pre-order on Amazon.

As revealed by ComicBook.com, Batman: Revolution follows 2024's Batman: Resurrection, also penned by Miller. Both novels are set between the events of 1989's Batman and 1992's Batman Returns, drawing inspiration from Burton's unproduced third Batman film, which was slated to feature Robin Williams as The Riddler.

Here's the official summary for Batman: Revolution:

It's summer in Gotham, and a city-wide celebration is underway. The Joker's lingering chaos has subsided, paving the way for a grand Fourth of July event orchestrated by the mayor and retail magnate Max Shreck. But beneath the surface, unease simmers. Batman remains vigilant as gang violence and masked criminals escalate. Meanwhile, protests erupt against the city's opulent displays.

Norman Pinkus, a seemingly insignificant copy boy at the Gotham Globe, secretly crafts the newspaper's wildly popular "Riddle Me This" puzzles. Unbeknownst to all, Norman is a genius, anonymously solving crimes for the police—often before Batman even knows they've occurred. Despite his intellect, he feels overlooked and unappreciated. Witnessing the city's leaders constantly looking towards Batman for salvation, Norman devises a plan. He will use the summer's tensions, along with some dangerous new allies, to lure the Dark Knight into a thrilling game of riddles, aiming to prove himself Gotham's true savior. In this clash of wits, Norman—now The Riddler—and Batman will unearth hidden secrets about Gotham's past, secrets with devastating consequences for its future.

Batman: Revolution releases October 28, 2025. Pre-order your copy on Amazon.
