Recent Windows 11 update (24H2) caused compatibility problems for several Assassin's Creed titles. Ubisoft has swiftly addressed this issue with patches for Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, restoring functionality for these games on affected systems.

The Windows 11 24H2 update, while introducing features like Wi-Fi 7 and AI Copilot+, inadvertently created conflicts with some games. Ubisoft's patches, available via Steam, resolve the launch and performance issues experienced by players of Origins and Valhalla. Note that the patch sizes are substantial: 230 MB for Origins and 500 MB for Valhalla. Ensure sufficient storage space before installing.

However, the problem persists for some Ubisoft games, notably Assassin's Creed Odyssey. While previous patches addressed similar issues in Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Odyssey players may experience continued instability or complete failure to launch. Users are advised to delay the Windows 11 24H2 update until a dedicated patch is released for Odyssey.

This incident highlights a concerning oversight in Microsoft's testing process. Reports of game incompatibility surfaced months before the official 24H2 rollout, yet the issue wasn't fully resolved. This is particularly problematic given Microsoft's push for Windows 10 users to upgrade to Windows 11. While the majority of games appear unaffected, the experience underscores the potential for significant disruption caused by major OS updates.
