A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first DLC for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant amount of new content.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the first game in the series set in Japan, introduces dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been fraught with challenges, including negative feedback and multiple delays. The latest delay pushed the launch date to March 20, 2025.

The leaked information, originating from a now-deleted Steam update, according to Insider Gaming, details "Claws of Awaji" as including a new region, weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities. The DLC is estimated to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the DLC and a bonus mission.

Delayed Release and Ubisoft's Uncertain Future

The leak emerged following Ubisoft's announcement of another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. Initially slated for November 15, 2024, and then February 14, 2025, the game's release is now set for March 20, 2025. The delays are attributed to the need for further polishing and refinement.

This latest setback comes as Ubisoft faces uncertainty amidst rumors of a potential Tencent acquisition. The company has recently struggled with underperforming titles, including XDefiant and Star Wars Outlaws, impacting its financial performance.
