Star Wars Battlefront game revival campaign sparked by Andor actor

Growing enthusiasm for a new Star Wars Battlefront game has gained momentum following comments from an actor in the acclaimed series Andor.

Veteran Actor Joins Battlefront 3 Campaign

Muhannad Ben Amor, who portrayed rebel hero Wilmon Paak in Andor, has publicly advocated for a sequel to the popular shooter series. "Star Wars gotta give us Battlefront 3 ASAP," Amor posted on Instagram, revealing his impressive 469-hour playtime in Battlefront 2.

The actor shared his long-standing connection to the franchise: "Grew up with Battlefront 2 — been a veteran since day one. Let's HOPE Battlefront 3 happens."

Resurgent Interest Sparks Hope

The past month has seen Star Wars Battlefront 2 experience a remarkable resurgence, achieving its highest Steam player counts in years. This revival coincides with heightened interest in the franchise surrounding May 4 celebrations and Andor's climactic second season.

While Battlefront 2 previously maintained an average of 2,000 simultaneous Steam players, recent weeks have seen numbers approach its all-time peak of 10,000 concurrent users - despite the game no longer receiving developer support.

Development Challenges Remain

Series developer DICE currently prioritizes its next major Battlefield installment, with a full reveal expected this summer. The studio may also remain cautious about revisiting the Battlefront franchise following the controversial launch of Battlefront 2, which faced significant backlash over its initial monetization systems.

However, perceptions of the game have evolved considerably since its 2017 release. As IGN noted in their 2019 re-review: "Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a redemption story worthy of the Skywalker saga... it serves as one of the best ways to have an authentic Star Wars gaming experience."
