Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 5080 Gaming PC Launched at $2,399

by Finn Apr 22,2025

Dell is launching a fantastic deal on the Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC, now equipped with the cutting-edge GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, available for just $2,399.99 shipped. This offer stands out as one of the most competitive prices for an RTX 5080-equipped prebuilt system, especially given the price hikes from other brands since the RTX 50 series debuted in January. At Dell, the only other RTX 5080-equipped prebuilt system is priced well over $4,000, making this deal particularly attractive. Trying to source a standalone RTX 5080 GPU for a DIY build could cost as much as the entire Alienware Aurora R16 system.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC comes loaded with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265F CPU, GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core Ultra 7 265F, part of the Meteor Lake series, features a max turbo frequency of 5.3GHz with 20 cores and a 30MB cache. The system is kept cool with a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler and is powered by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 5080 is one of the three new Blackwell graphics cards released and currently in high demand. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie notes, "If you already have a high-end graphics card from the last couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be a significant upgrade – it doesn’t offer a substantial performance leap over the RTX 4080. However, the enhanced frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do improve visuals in supported games. For gamers with older graphics cards seeking a major performance boost, the RTX 5080 is a game-changer, especially if you're keen on Nvidia’s AI enhancements."

New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis

Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. While it shares similarities with the 2024 R16 system, it includes minor aesthetic and cooling redesigns along with updated components. The I/O panel is now located at the top of the case, and the tempered glass window extends across the entire side panel. This design eliminates the side panel vents, introducing air intakes at the bottom and front of the case for a positive airflow system, which typically results in a cleaner interior. Internally, the system boasts a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The initial batch of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards sold out within the first hour of preorders. The highest-end models, RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, were released first, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti in February. Similarly, prebuilt gaming PCs with these new GPUs are either sold out, have increased in price, or are facing extended delivery delays.
