How To Access the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Steam Early Access, the Deep Woods have been tantalizingly marked on the town map, yet remained inaccessible—until the March 2025 update, that is! This guide reveals how to unlock this new area and finally meet Caldarus.

Unlocking the Deep Woods in *Fields of Mistria*

The key to unlocking the Deep Woods lies in breaking the Fire Seal and utilizing the newly acquired Dragon’s Breath spell to burn away the obstructing vines. This requires a specific offering to the Priestess's altar on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are found between floors 50 and 59. However, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires a little help from Juniper and Balor.

To get the scroll, leave these items by Balor's wagon:

• 10 Silver Ingots
• 10 Rubies
• 10 Sapphires
• 10 Emeralds

Afterward, speak to Balor; he'll deliver the scroll the next day. Once you've completed the offering, prepare for the unexpected. Instead of a simple unlocking, the Priestess begs you to flee before the scroll seals you within the mines! Your health depleted, Caldarus dramatically appears, shifts to his human form, and retreats to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover. He then grants you the Dragon’s Breath spell, your ticket into the previously inaccessible area. This spell also unlocks other hidden areas on the map. Simply equip it from the pause menu and activate it while facing the entrance.

Finding Caldarus

Caldarus awaits within his temple in the Deep Woods, located north of the Eastern Road. Use Dragon’s Breath to access the area. His location is clearly marked on your map. You'll find him in the northeast corner, beyond a stump that requires a good axe swing to clear.

Once unlocked, utilize the Dragon Statue on your farm for convenient, 10 Essence fast travel to the Deep Woods.

While you can visit Caldarus directly, remember you can still interact with him (spiritually, at least) via his statue.
